Quick Update

We went back for another check up on Monday. The fetal fibronectin test came back negative, again. Which means we are good for another two weeks. My midwife did caution me that because of the pressure baby is putting on my cervix he can trigger the release of hormones that would start labor. We did figure out that I have been and still am having occasional contractions. Usually related to how tired I get. So I am supposed to take it even more easy, and in my midwive's words, I'm not allowed to get tired. The next couple weeks are crucial, and we are so close to the important 34 week mark. Of course I really want to go beyond that, but one thing at a time.

I also found out I passed my 3 hr glucose test. No gestational diabetes for me! I once again credit prayer for the good outcome.

Also, we have to go back on Thursday for another ultra sound. I guess it's already been a month since the last one. It doesn't feel like that long ago to me. We'll be going back to our favorite woman's imaging clinic, and not the one we had the bad experience at for more measurements of baby, and my cervix. He's still measuring small when she measures my belly with the tape, but in part because she can't measure all of him. His head is in my pelvis. We are saying prayers and believing for another good report.

In house news we sanded and refinished the wood floor in what will be the master bedroom last weekend. Of course I say we loosely. I acted in more of a supporting role aka "You missed a spot honey." The old oak floor turned out gorgeous. We were pleasantly surprised it wasn't as hard as we'd been told it would be to refinish, and the results were really amazing. I'll have to take a picture or two. We now can't wait to do the rest of the house. Once we finish the master bedroom and bathroom, mostly drywall work, paint and trim at this point, we'll move in and that will free up the back bedroom so that we can do that floor next. I can't wait.

More medical news and other updates later in the week. Hopefully it's all good news.

Baby Shower

Baby Shower 5/28/09

The gals at work gave me the best baby shower. It was on May 28th after work, in the cafeteria. We had ice cream sundaes instead of cake, and a picnic theme. I'd say Kim and Marie know me pretty well, bless them. They did most of the work and planning.

The party was very nice. Quite a few people were able to be there and so many people gave me gifts, even from people that couldn't be there. I wrote over 40 thank you notes afterwards. That's not complaining or bragging. I am still amazed at how good everyone was to me.

This was one of my favorite gifts. Several of my friends went in together and got me this beautiful cradle. I just love it. I'll have to take some better pictures of everything when it's all set up.
I didn't feel I need to write captions with every photo. They are fairly self explanatory, but this one has to be my favorite. Josh, one of our few male teachers at WES took the picture. It was rather cute that he was brave enough to hang out, but then again he may be used to being surrounded by women. I love the bunny ears. Yes, those are teachers.

I'm still overwhelmed by how generous and kind everyone was. I really received quite a lot of neat gifts. I got baby clothes, bottle brushes, 2 strollers (we returned one and picked out some more neat stuff) a cradle and bedding, a handmade baby blanket, a bouncy swing, baby monitor, boppy pillow, toys, a neat baby photo book, and scrapbook, oh and a pack n' play. There was lots of other fun items too much to list. Overall my first shower was an absolute blast!!

Latest Doctor's Apt.

The latest update is almost the same as the last one, which is good. Baby is still very low and putting pressure on my cervix, but I am not dilated. Most importantly my fetal fibronectin test came back negative. Which, means I'm heading for 31 weeks, without a problem.
The only bad news was I was told no flying, and traveling long distances wasn't a good idea. That means I missed Kelly's wedding this past weekend. I really hated that I couldn't be there. But didn't feel the risk was worth it. I've already seen some pictures and it looks like it turned out just gorgeous.

I also had to do a glucose test. It came back a little high at 151. It needed to be 140 or lower. So yesterday I had to go do the 3hr glucose test. Ugghh!! No food or drink after midnight and 100mg of sugar drink for breakfast. It really reminded me of drinking an orange freeze pop with extra sugar. Then lets draw blood 4 times every hour on the hour, with one time before.

I still don't know the results. We'll see. I go back for I think my last fetal fibronectin on June 15th. The goal being to make it to a minimum of 34 weeks and then I can relax a little until I make it to 37 weeks.

Other news
The boys graduated on June 4th. It was a really nice graduation ceremony. I have pics, but haven't done anything with them. I'll have to post them later.

Also, I'm officially unemployed. The last day of school was on June 6th for report card pick up. I was great full that I could finish the school year out. However, it was kind of bitter sweet knowing I won't be back next year. I really made some wonderful friends at work, and I'll miss working there. On the bright side I'm looking forward to my new job of full time Mommy.
