Where have I been lately?

What a roller-coaster life can be. Lately we seem to be experiencing daily ups and downs combined with the odd doldrums of no real change.  I'm been ignoring my blog.  Too much going on and when I get behind I always feel like I need to catch up all at once. That won't happen today so I'll have to post pictures of Mimi & Pa's visit later. For now here's a start on catching up.

I found this baby snapping turtle outside of my garden Easter morning.  After showing him to Blake we walked down to the creek and put him in.  Although, I've seen other baby turtles I'd never seen a snapping turtle this small before.

I get such a kick out of the things Blake wants to hitch together. Here he's taken the caboose from his Alphabet Train and "connected" it to his tractor.

He then thought he should go for a ride.
Sometimes the train stops behind our house and backs up or just sits there for awhile. I never have figured out why they stop, but one day in March we snuck out there so Blake could see the train close up, always impressive how big it actually is.
Blake taking a look from a safer distance.

He also loves his "Kiddy".  Everyday he plays with Mitch. When Blake thinks it is time to play with Mitch he'll go to the door and call "Kiddy" over and over until Mitch comes in and they play. Usually Blake pulls a string for Mitch to chase or throws balls for him. Mitch is wonderful and tolerates and even seems to enjoy all of Blake's rough love.
Blake and Mitch taking a break after playing. Blake covered Mitch with his blanket and then partially sat on him. He's also holding Mitch's tail.

Besides trains and animals Blake loves cubby holes. Here he's climbed in the dryer with some of his toys. He's pretty proud of himself.

He amazes us daily making us laugh and shake our heads in wonder.  He has phenomenal hand-eye coordination. His latest accomplishment was scaring us to death by figuring out how to turn the deadbolt and the door knob for our outside door! Not the sliding glass door (he's been unlocking and opening and closing that one for weeks) which opens into our fenced backyard, but our door that opens into our carport and leads out onto our VERY busy road.  So yesterday when I come out of the bedroom confident that he is indoors imagine my horror at realizing he's outside and has been for several minutes by himself. Fortunately he headed away from the road to go visit with the dogs in the back yard. Vance no sooner finishes stating we'll just have to make sure the door stays locked only to watch Blake unlock and re-open it. A trip to Lowe's for those plastic door knobs seems to have temporarily stalled Blake.
