Awards Day and Class Picnic
Awards Day and Class Picnic
This picture is at Lil' Vance's class picnic at the Watertown Park. He posed with Chris on the left and in the middle Bill a fixture at the park.
The kids had seen a snake in the creek and were of course fascinated by it. I didn't take a whole lot of pictures as I mostly had my hands full helping Lil' Vance. But the picnic is an annual event for his class and always a lot of fun. They grilled burgers and made home made ice cream that was really good.
Earlier in the day WHS held their awards ceremony. Lil' Vance received an award in recognition of his passing the Biology portion of his Gateway test. A huge achievement for Lil' Vance and one that he studied very hard for.
It was quite a long ceremony and a lot of Seniors were receiving awards for academic achievements and scholarships.
Josh, Chris and Lil' Vance all received awards. Josh and Chris both received an award in recogniction of their faithfulness in raising and lowering the school's flag every day. Chris along with Vance also received an award for his performance on the Gateway test.Wednesday May 21st
Track and Field Day
It was a great day for WHS' First annual track and field day. Mr. Luttrell, Watertown High's new principal, decided to have track and Field day for the students this year and I'd say it was a huge success. They had a lot of prizes, food and silly games.
Tug of War- The guys on the left really could pull. They were undefeated until the went up against the girls. As soon as the whistle blew the guys dug in hard, planning on dragging the girls across the line, but the girls immediately let go of the rope and sent the guys flying.
Shane and some buddies tried going up against them too. Sadly they didn't last long. That's Shane in the tan baseball cap and black shirt on the right.
There was a game to golf rubber duckies to see who could whack theirs the farthest. Here Shane is waiting his turn.
Setting up the shot.
Shane is involved in the Police Explorer program through Watertown's police department. They attended classes and trainings sessions and then help with traffic and crowd control at Watertown's many events. Here Shane is hanging out with Watertown's Chief of Police, looking tough in his Police Explorer uniform, and keeping those unruly band members in line.
